Banro Corporation Ltd. (“Banro” or the “Company”) is a Cayman Island based gold mining company focused on the development of its four (4) projects in the South Kivu and Maniema provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”).
Commercial production at its Twangiza Mining SA mine began in September of 2012, making this project the first gold mine to be established in the DRC in over 50 years. Twangiza has been designed to produce over 120,000 ounces of gold ore per year from the near surface oxidized material, originating from an underlying gold porphyry system. The mine has been in operation since this period and continues to source nearby oxide resources to supply the carbon in leach (“CIL”) processing plant on site.
In December of 2013, a second mine located in the Maniema province was designed and constructed, known as Namoya Mining SA and it came into production by pouring its first ounce of gold oré on December 23, 2013; entering commercial production in Q2 2016. The Namoya mine has a similar capacity to Twangiza, as it is also designed to produce 120,000 ounces of gold ore per year from its numerous oxide resources in the Namoya licence.
Banro has a total of four (4) mining licences and seventeen (17) exploration permits; covering two provinces (South Kivu and Maniema) and spanning a total of 7,500 km2 of highly prospective mineralized gold (tin-tungsten-tantalum) terrain,
