Health & Safety

At Banro, we are committed to upholding the highest health and safety standards, ensuring every employee is healthy, safe, and secure.

The health and well-being of our employees is imperative, and we consider this to be a great responsibility of ours.  In order to ensure that our employees have access to health care whether they are on-site or off-site, we have an on-staff doctors and nurse with fully equipped clinical support.  Our health and safety departments also work hand-in-hand with local and international aid organizations ensuring that we are able to provide the best care for our employees.

  • At Banro, we are committed to ensuring our sites are safe and secure workplaces and have developed a Health and Safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001 standards, formerly based on OHSAS 18001.  In addition to our Health and Safety management systems, we have a Board approved and endorsed Health and Safety Policy that can be reviewed here.

  • At Banro, our prime objective is zero injuries.  We want people to come to work, work productively and safely, and go home to their families at the end of the day.  Zero Harm – zero fatalities, zero injuries and zero lost time injuries.

  • Over the past 5 years we have seen a considerable improvement in our total reportable injury frequency rate (TRIFR) as well as other safety statistics.  Our goal is to improve this these statistics until our TRIFR is zero.

  • In 2019, we will be focusing on our highest rate of incidents for 2018 – which include vehicular damage and incidents; hand tools and hand injuries; and slips and falls.
